Cunard Line

There are many people who savour life. Not for them is high-speed travel, or a rushed holiday. Only a cruise can give the feeling of space and enchantment. It was in 1839 that the first ever British transatlantic steamship mail contract was granted to Samuel Cunard. He formed the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company the following year. This line operated on the Liverpool – Halifax – Boston route. Till 1869, Cunarders were the best in the field of shipping and they won the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing. The company went through many ups and downs till at last in 1998, the Carnival Corporation took over Cunard.

Five years down the line saw more changes in that the Queen Mary 2 or the QM2 replaced the QE2. Queen Victoria or the QV is also run by the Carnival Corporation. As in all luxury liners, being on the ship is a holiday destination in itself. The ship combines elegance with luxury, and the classic with the contemporary. Cunard ships have all modern amenities and the cabins are done up in such a way that they provide a high degree of comfort.

From spas on the seas to culturally rich entertainment programs, these liners have to be travelled in to be believed. In the hurry and burry of life, we often miss out on the beauty of timeless elegance and cultured living. It is important never to lose sight of this, for this is what life should most certainly have if only in a small measure. Going on a Cunard cruise, brings you this experience, and cushions you in comfort and luxury. Whether you are on the shimmering Mediterranean, or the unspoiled waters of Northern Europe, you will get a chance to step into the best of cultures.

There are nurseries and care centers for children, so that both adults and children can enjoy themselves. The part of the ship that is designated for this has fully trained nannies and other staff who can handle children. Youth Staff organize a variety of activities for teenagers such as sports, scavenger hunts, learn how to paint or maybe learn a new craft. Dance lessons are organized for those who love dancing and there are quizzes organized by the in-house team of experts. Since there are shore excursions, talks and lectures are arranged so that you can visit the port of call and know what to do, where to go and what to see. A wide selection of movies is available as well.

Everyone is given a Daily Program so that you know what is on offer. Watching the chefs carve fantastic ice sculptures is an activity that you might want to be a part of. All the ships have a well-stocked library so if you are not into outdoor games, you can hide away in the beautifully cozy library with a book. You will have access to video libraries as well if that is what you like. Quaint as it sounds, you can actually post a letter with a local stamp which you get from the Purser’s Office. The Connoisseur’s Caribbean cruise is a 10 days/nights cruise on board the Queen Mary 2. The port of embarkation is New York. So if you are from Florida and want to go on this cruise, you could get to the Big Apple, and board this magnificent liner. The ports of call are St.Maarten, Barbados, Grenada, St.Lucia, and St.Thomas. Days at sea are equally charming, so that you come back feeling once again that life is grand.
